Is All Codeshare This Bad?

I've been switching to JetBlue recently and tried my first code share -- with Hawaiian Airlines. It's been nothing but trouble, I am not sure if this is normal?

From booking, there was no way to select seats -- I Wanted to upgrade to their economy+ seats...call JetBlue, they say call HA, who says call HA...I managed to get them to call each other and they said call the travel agent?
The connection of 1hr from terminal 4 to terminal 5 is insane -- there is no shuttle, and requires the Sky Train, security, etc, in a 1 hour connection...there was no boarding group for the Hawiian ticket
My bags were lost at JFK -- the only thing HA says was that it's not their fault, etc...took 6 days to get my bags, lots of finger pointing, and nobody really wanting to answer any phones...somehow my bags went to Israel? HA kept saying to call JB, JB would say its not their problem to fix, regardless of fault.
The check in kiosk in Hawaii wouldn't accept any of my credentials, and required manual check in, which also was missing TSA Pre #.
...And I'm still missing points from the HA portion of the flight.

Are the two airlines really this disconnected? The whole experience seems like nothing but headaches and lack of anyone talking to each other.

Codeshare bookings tend to cause problems. B6 and HA both have kinda terrible IT so adding it together might be awful.

You always deal with the last carrier on the booking for missing bags (so B6) – that is an IATA resolution and is applied pretty universally.
