Very glad I jumped ship when I did. Award certs? Second boarding group? I can see the usefulness of SDC at the first major tier for business travelers but otherwise this is just a slapdash version of what every other airline does. I'd rather keep status in an airline that actually handles IRROPs. Meet the new airline, same as the old airlines.

With some of these changes, I can't blame them -- I wouldn't have sent an email either.

Ah I got an email when the announcement came out, but not that it matters since I'm letting my Mosaic lapse after this year — so clearly they should have figured out how to send it to other more relevant people lol

EMS was never a perk available at booking until the past year. I'm not sure why people are expecting it would be available going forward for the lowest tier. That first tier is basically AAdvantage Gold and Gold don't get Y+ at booking or at check-in.

So now they basically have 4 tiers like AA. I'd say their Tier 2 is pretty good since you can get 4 mint upgrades cert. With AA, I didn't get any SWUs until EXP level. Their tier 3/4 seems quite lacking, since I don't see enough perks over Tier 2.

They are basically domestic first away from becoming a legacy at this point. And they will probably get there after NK merger.

This is no longer JetBlue of 10 years ago. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you will realize these tiers are quite reasonable compared to competition.

Precisely. Mint Level 1 is exactly the same as Mosaic has been every year until this one when EMS were temporarily given as a moving toward COVID exit perk--with the added benefit of getting EMS at check in. How is this a slap in the face to long term Mosaics when everything is the same plus one benefit added? Mosaic boarding is still the same, points earning, etc. so perhaps people are just not reading the terms of the new program. B6 will be close to UAs size by the time the merger goes through so why anybody would think that the lowest level status would get you the world is just not realistic. This sets up the basis for future partnerships and reciprocal benefits and actually gives incentives for people to use the B6 credit cards more and to continue spending money with AA/B6 beyond $4,000 to $5,000 per year.

I myself reached Mosaic long ago and have mostly just redeemed the last half of the year as I had no incentive to spend more. I also used the B6 card a lot less and even used AMEX Platinum for some B6 purchases. Now I have more an incentive to charge more to the B6 card. A FF program should incentivize spend which benefits the airline's bottom line while giving perks back to the customer. I think they actually did quite a fair tradeoff considering how much you need to spend with other airlines to get often non-existent perks.

well, for one thing, you can accumulate status through credit card. And the lowest mosaic level offers more perk than AA gold. The second mosaic level offers upgrade certs to mint. That's not available on AA until EXP.

Why not change that one in 2024 for those who already qualified? I get the program is always subject to change, but it seems a little like a bait and switch to me and a big devaluation.

On top of the negative feeling I get from it, I‘m not interested in trekking to the gate hours in advance to try to secure the remaining available EMS (middle) seat.. I’d rather be in the (non-JetBlue) lounge on the other side of the airport :-)

You can pick EMS at checkin 24 hours before flight, or can you not do that with the Mosaic free upgrade?

Midtowngal Dec 8, 2022 2:39 pm

I'm Mosaic through Dec 31, 2022. As of January 1, 2023, no longer Mosaic so the flights I already have booked to return from holiday travel will exclude free checked bags (currently 2 at no charge). Since new program doesn't officially launch until Spring, JetBlue should offer the current benefits.perks for Mosaics during 1st quarter until the launch if they cared about their long-term loyal clientele.

You may want to re-read the FAQ again. Only Tier 3 gets Mint upgrades. :-)

I feel like they are changing the tiers around hourly, or people are not reading this right. The way the webpage is structured, it is quite convoluted. I had to read through it a couple of times, and make sure to select the 'mosaic' section near the top, otherwise you are reading pick-your-perk for non-mosaics who have earned these silly tiles.

Mosaic 1 compared to Mosaic in 2020/2021 - All the benefits are at at least as good as Mosaic was before 2022. I think in 2021, you could select EMS seats at booking for a fairly high points fee or at the gate. In 2019, I remember paying around 800 points for EMS on transcon flights, ~400points for 3-4hr flights. Then, they bumped up the pricetag to 2k/3k for similar flights. The only other way to get EMS was free at the gate if the agent would allow it (no specific policy for that). Then in 2022, they came out with the max price of 200points, and 200points refunded after flying, and free EMS at check-in. There is no mention of points to pay for EMS ahead of time going forward in 2023, but EMS at check-in is better than it was pre-COVID. Other than that, everything is the same, except you cannot qualify for mosaic with 12kpoints/30 segments.

BTW, I booked a points ticket yesterday (as Mosaic) for travel in March, and selected EMS at no charge. It showed $0/0points for all three people in my group. Likely this is just the crappy IT system.

This could have been a lot worse. I am still waiting for the major point devaluation or other changes to settle out, like the fact that you can't book points bookings anymore with travelbank.

That would be this very poorly socialized promotion buried at the bottom of the Mosiac page...I saw the same thing you did and had to dig to find it:

Even More® Space at no extra charge.

Select Even More Space at booking, or later, for free (pending availability). Applicable on new bookings made 12/2/2022-12/31/2022. Not valid with Blue Basic fares.

so, this is actually by-design and not an accident. Thanks!

A while back I stopped getting most jetblue emails. I changed my email address and then started getting emails again with the stuff talked about here on FT. I suspect this is happening again, Jetblue wonderful IT system at work...

josendo Dec 12, 2022 1:07 pm

I am not sure if this has been answered by JetBlue yet, but for Mosaic 1 members who wish to fly Even More Space seats without leaving it to chance that there will be availability at check-in, will we be able to purchase the upgrade with points at the time of purchase or will it be available only for cash as it currently is for non-Mosaic members?

sfozrhfco Jan 1, 2023 1:03 pm

Until the new program starts Mosaic members will be able to select EMS at the time of booking.

——

“Mosaic members will be able to select Even More Space seats at the time of booking for free (pending availability) from now until the new TrueBlue program launches.1 Not valid on Blue Basic fares.

Then, once we transition to the new TrueBlue program, Mosaic 1 members will be able to select Even More Space for free beginning at check-in (pending availability)1 while Mosaic 2, Mosaic 3, and Mosaic 4 members will continue to be able to select Even More Space at booking for free (pending availability).1

The business card now has priority boarding (A group) but personal card has nothing?

part of me wants to get the business card…not sure if I can trust B6 anymore

especially if the merger goes through who knows how they’ll gut things

Is there really no update on redeeming JetBlue miles on AA? Got my folks to apply for JetBlue cards and now sitting on 600K miles ready to use them on AA. Is nobody else getting annoyed with this? I thought AA themselves took so long to roll out B6 redemptions although that now seems like nothing.

anyone notice this? JetBlue makes no-notice devaluation to travel credits - The Points Guy

They also made it impossible to use travel credit for a points booking - at least online (edited as I realized I saw the answer to this when I looked last month)

This has been the case for a few months now (see the website continuously not functional thread). You can call in to book a ticket this way and then have to demand the phone booking fee be waived (or maybe you can try over chat? idk). I get to try this out later

I agree, think it’s a fair program. I think one downfall will be the easy entry to tier 1 and how it opens up priority boarding.

CanyonHopper Apr 2, 2023 11:24 am

I saw they renewed their partnership with FoundersCard a while back and see it as one of the benefit choices. Anyone know if there’s a way to renew that while the Mosaic benefits are in limbo? Mine expired and although they haven’t kicked me off anything yet, I actually find it a moderately nice benefit and would like to keep.

They likely need to wait until the NEA law suit is settled. Makes no sense to start it up just to dismantle it if there is a negative result from the law suit or if implementing it too soon negatively impacts the case.

moulder3 Apr 17, 2023 11:29 pm

FYI, if the travel bloggers are correct, there's yet another stealth devaluation for Mosaics. Apparently it's only the "first drink free" after May 11. Meanwhile, the Big 3 still give out free drinks--plural--to all their EMS/Economy+ customers.
