Attaching a picture of the meal from LAS - JFK. It’s easy to notice the cost cutting vs Mint from 2-3 years ago (4 items vs 5, no red meat, etc.), but I overall still thought it was a pretty solid meal for plane food and better than anything I’ve had recently from United, Delta, or American. It sucks that the bar is so low, but I guess if all you have to do is be better than the rest so be it.

Chose the eggplant, chicken saltimbocca, and Silician pizza. The eggplant went really well with the bread, but not sure that was supposed to be the accompaniment (if there was supposed to be any) - I would have expected a pita. The chicken saltimbocca was decent - I could have done with half of the breadcrumbs. The Silician “pizza” was absolutely nothing like a pizza let alone a Sicilian one, but it’s hard to mess up a flatbread with cheese and basil - it tasted decent.

The gelato was as usual - reasonable enough. Given it was a reasonably appetizing meal and the only lie-flat product between LAS-JFK, I was more than satisfied.

B6 333 BOS-SFO

Westbound Lunch/Dinner

ESCAROLE croutons, parmigiano, Italian vinaigrette
ROASTED CHICKEN almond romesco, breadcrumbs, mint
VANILLA GELATO roasted peaches, hazelnut shortbread crumble

Scheduled 7pm departure got delayed until 10pm because they stole our plane to fly a BOS-LAX rotation instead, so had to wait for a different inbound. Ate at the Sapphire Lounge instead (food quality has gone down since opening, but cocktails remain solid) while waiting, so only picked two of the small plates — the salad was decent (mostly because of the dressing which had a fair amount of flavor), and chicken was good and not dried out. Given the hour was ok that they served the gelato together with the food — toppings were fine but very much on the sweeter side. Crew was ok, apologized for no PDBs given the delay.

I have to admit that I pocketed the Maldon salt tins a few times before they switched to the disposable packets. The eggplant is a "no" for me; much rather have the burrata item. It is nice to see whole leaves of basil on what looks more like a burrito crossed with a calzone:p

I have a German beer stein full of those tins… 😂 I do still carry the salt for travel (primarily to neutralize bitter coffee).

From JonNYC, who is usually very, very reliable, we might be looking at Mint service (presumably menu) cuts over the next few months

I imagine them offering 5 different items to choose from will be low-hanging fruit for them to axe

I hope the cuts take a little longer. I have my first Mint flights in late November and another two weeks later. Do they offer open bar PDB? How are they with wine refills during the flight? Are there self-serve snacks in Mint like in the back?

The menus are generally constant (and are visible on their website). It is usually open bar PDB and they should be good about refilling beverages inflight (though that is up to the individual crew). Mint passengers have access to the pantry just as Core passengers have.

I assume amenity kits are still in full swing too?

Yahtzee Oct 12, 2024 3:02 pm

No. I would not assume that. You probably need to ask for one.

They've annoyingly been by request only for the past year or so, but they usually stock plenty at least in my experience

No amenity kits at all on JFK-LAX tonight.

Absolute Joke

The time it takes to get food is insane!!! My first movie just ended and I have not been brought dinner. Row 1 just now got their dinner. I think this is ridiculous and I remember now thinking it 8 months ago also. How can it take so long this is ruining my chance to get some sleep.

I guess 1 FA for 15 ppl is causing this. And ppl from MC come to use the lava since there is no curtain.

I never use to love Mint but now it has become a joke!
