Base Fare Rounding

If I book a flight with a Base Fare of $149.66, would I earn 894, 898, or 900 Points when booking through JetBlue.com?

What if I were to book a roundtrip on the same fare basis for both the outbound and the return, making the Base Fare $299.32 - would I earn 1788, 1794, 1796, or 1800 Points when booking through JetBlue.com?

I believe they round just like normal rounding. Over 49, round up, under 50, round down. That has been my experience.

So considering that B6 doesn't have any fares with a round-trip purchase requirement, it would be in one's best interest to book certain flights as a one way and other flights as a round trip depending on the Base Fare.

In my original example, two one ways at $149.66 would round up to $150 each, generating a total of 1800 Points. However, were you to book it as a round trip at $299.32, it would round down to $299, generating a total of 1794 Points.

Yes, the difference is negligible, but it still makes a difference in the long run.

You would need 833 flights in order for it to give you enough for a one way flight. If you fly one roundtrip per month, it would take 34-35 years to rack up enough points for a free one way.

If you think the extra time spent is worth it, then all the power to you.

To each his/her own, but once I've found flights that meet my needs, it would literally take an extra two minutes to book them as two one ways as compared to one round trip. And when I said it makes a difference in the long run, in the event of a family emergency, for example, I would rather have the sufficient points than be short literally 43 miles (or points). That's seven flights, or five flights if you're Mosaic, on B6. Lesson learned from past experience.
