In my original example, two one ways at $149.66 would round up to $150 each, generating a total of 1800 Points. However, were you to book it as a round trip at $299.32, it would round down to $299, generating a total of 1794 Points.
Yes, the difference is negligible, but it still makes a difference in the long run.
You would need 833 flights in order for it to give you enough for a one way flight. If you fly one roundtrip per month, it would take 34-35 years to rack up enough points for a free one way.
If you think the extra time spent is worth it, then all the power to you.
