Heading on BUR-LGB, it will likely be the F seat; back north, should likely be the A seat. Of course, winds and the exact flight plan can change those...and the flight plan could be tricky given the navigation through LAX approach.

At these prices, one could have always booked a window on each side of the plane.

There is a company called State Shuttle that does regularly schedule van service between EWR and JFK. They have a scheduled time of 2 hours between the two airports.

"Bike vs. airplane" race : http://travel.usatoday.com/flights/p...-race/177138/1

Who will be faster between Burbank and Long Beach, bicyclists or B6?

Also, bikes fly free: http://blog.jetblue.com/index.php/20...ee-on-jetblue/

If I could bet I'd put my money on the bike. I've done a 30 mile bike ride in under 2 hours. They should also add a car driving from the start to finish...during Carmageddon.

The order each mode of transportation would finish would be

1. Bike
2. Plane
3. Car

Greetings from A9 at BUR...they're setting up for a party with balloons at the ticket counter and gate, plus some more goodies.

The ticket agents at the counter mentioned they had been reading this thread.

One hour to boarding...I'm the FTer in the black Nike shirt and rollaboard (probably the only person with bags on this flight!) and the Flyertalk/Delta Diamond tags on my bag.

Our ship is N789JB for those following along. I'm the guy with the reddish Tshirt, unironed black jeans, and sunglasses.

I've got $20 on the bikes if there are any takers.

Would it make economic sense to make this flight permanent?

Not a chance. You'd have to charge a lot more than $4 for anything but a marketing stunt.

The bikes made it before the plane even took off.

I was thinking about business travelers.

From take-off to touchdown, it took us 20 minutes, although they did have a little fun flying around the Mulhullond Bridge so that may have taken a couple minutes.

Back on flight 406, let's see how long this takes.

406 was 31 minutes gate-to-gate. A few empty seats in the back half. Probably about 7-8 from row 16 back.

Sure, but how much would the fares have to be to justify running the plane. You're not going to sell all that many seats, especially to the folks who have a driver for the schlep across town anyways.

I just cannot imagine there is a real demand out there. The trip simply takes too long. Both the bikes and the guy riding the Metro got there faster.

Reporting from B6 Flt 405 & 406:

405 was better, as we took a bit longer and a more scenic tour of Los Angeles County. Two people won B6 points for having a birthday closest to April 6 (aka 405) B6 Chairman made announcements and was on board 405. Met two FT members and a few other enthusiastic people as well. Mostly families with small children, airline buffs, a few for nostalgia, and some engineer/nerdy/geeky/average folks like me.

B6 Flt#406 just before landing at BUR. Note traffic looks ok.
