Buf-jfk 5:45 am

Our flight is scheduled to leave BUF for JFK @ 5:45 am. Does anybody know what time we would need to be at the airport. What time will the JB employees actually arrive to check us in.

I have never flown out of BUF just curious how busy it would be on a Saturday morning.

Thanks

Are you checking bags and will you have previously printed out your BP at home?

I'd be at the security checkpoint no later than 5:05am just to be safe. If you need to check bags or otherwise deal with the counter add 30 minutes to that, again as a conservative estimate.

Yes we will have 1 checked bag each. I will most likely print my boarding passes at home.

I was just looking at the stay, park & fly hotels I was just wondering if we would be able to grab something at the hotels 4:30 am continental breakfast before grabbing the shuttle.

@FB_: I NEVER trust that the continental breakfast will be open that early if I'm in a rush for the airport. It's really easy to go to a Wegman's or something similar and buy stuff for your own continental breakfast and not deal with it in the morning. IMO, it's not worth the $5 savings.

Buffalo airport is quite simple I've used it a bunch of times. Security is a breeze and I always get the random search (I'm "special").
B6 gates are halfway down the terminal so not a big deal. I once checking into a flight 31 minutes before departure time and was at the gate in 5 minutes. I was running but still getting through security is a breeze.
With checking your bags I'd recommend 30-45 minutes arrival at airport time.
The hotels near the airport dont' serve breakie until 6am from what I remember but that could have changed.

According to the B6 website the ticket counter opens at 415 am (they do have curbside check in ). The website recommends getting their 90 minutes before hand (and a minimum of 30 minutes for checked bags ) . Of course the 1 time I was in Buffalo I never left the airport

Thanks everyone.

The Sleep Inn Buffalo airport has a rate of $129.00 + taxes for one night and 14 days parking, with free shuttle. Sounds pretty decent considering parking for 10 days will be $80.00 anyway.

That's crap. The longest line I was ever in at BUF (one of my two home airports) went out the door to the sidewalk and we were still through in less than 10 minutes. I fly 100K+ a year and BUF is the best security in the country (with BDL as a close second). And with checking a bag, you don't even need to be there at the initial boarding as you don't need overhead space. My aim is to have the car parked and be inside and in the security line at approx 40 mins before departure and I've never had a problem at any hour, with the early morning flights being the busiest time at BUF.

Last time I flew B6 out of BUF was a 7:30 am flight and the line to check bags was hundreds deep. I ended up going outside and paying 3.00 a bag(3bags) to check them in. Security was VERY long but quick. If the check bagage line is long and you are running late I would check them outside. Worth the $9.00(plus a tip) to me.
