Award ticket Only need return now must I cancel outbound and pay fee?

We are flying in August to Phoenix on an award ticket from the old system.

Due to a change in plans, we called to cancel the outbound portion thinking it would just go back into our account when we paid the $100. (Similar to SWA, although no fee)

They told us the 1/2 we arent using will be lost and that we should simply not show up to avoid the fee. Doesnt this therefore cancel the return leg which we still need?

Skipping the first leg

I believe that Jetblue will not cancel your second leg if you are a no show for your first leg. They treat everything as a one way flight so skipping your first leg will not affect your second . It is one of the nice things about B6 .

I believe that you would be able to change it to another available flight for a future trip if you wanted, for that $100 fee - that way you wouldn't really lose it.
