Transit Time at NRT

Hi,
I had purchased a flight from LAX-CAN with a transit at Narita Airport by ANA but I just realized that the transit would only be a little over 30 minutes and I'm travelling alone with my 2 years old son. We'll be changing planes and no terminal changing.

The last time I went thru NRT was over 4 years ago and I remembered it involved some running. Now is this suicide? What's gonna happen to us if we miss our connecting flight to Guangzhou? Just found out that's the last flight for the day too. Ouchy!

Plz plz help.
Thanks!

i doubt you'll make it. even if you run..and they close the doors to the flight at least 10 minutes before if not more. and don't forget that you have to go through a security check at NRT which includes xrays and all that good stuff.

how were you even able to book this Itinerary?

These your flights?
All Nippon Airways Flight NH5 on a Boeing 777 (jet) in coach class
Departs Los Angeles, CA (LAX) 11:35a 11 hrs 50 min
Arrives Tokyo, Japan (NRT) 4:25pm

NH933
Departs Tokyo, Japan (NRT) 5:10p
Arrives Guangzhou, China (CAN) 9:35p

ok..after looking at that you might make it but it's going to be close. You have about 45 min. 5 min to taxi the plane..another 5 to deboard maybe 10-15 to get through security and to your gate.?? but of course you have a two year old so that might factor in.

Yup that's the itinerary. Man, now I'm feeling even screwed!
I called ANA's customer service here and the guy said I will make the flight coz all I have to do is just go thru security and find the departure gate.

Okay so worst case scenario if we does miss the flights? Can they put us on the next flight out or what? I guess I'm just trying to prepare for the worst since I don't think we can do much to change the tickets (got them from expedia.com btw).

Thanks for your reply Aaron!

45 mins is a legal connection for Star Alliance to Star Alliance flights.
It's doable, but you face a challenge coming from coach and dealing with a push chair. Ask ANA to provide assistance. They might have a way to get you some help to get to the front of the security line.

I did called ANA back and the nice lady put a request for somebody to be there at the gate when we deplane to assist us. She's not sure about having a stroller gate check and be return to me when we landed at NRT (I'm gonna try to call them back tomorrow) but I think if I could get someone there to help us I could make it without a stroller.

Thanks Jib!

ANA sells this connection on their website so it must be legal/doable. I'm certain that they'll do everything in their power to ensure you make the connection.

ANA once helped me when I had a tight connection (domestic to transPac) at LAX due to my domestic flight being rescheduled at the last minute.

I had to get myself to the International Terminal, but they even took me through the employees' security line so that I would not miss my flight.

I'm sure they would be accommodating with a connection that they themselves scheduled. I've found their customer service to be superb, and not only on that occasion.

Thanks guys for the replies. I did asked for the special assistance so I'm crossing my fingers that we will make the connecting flight. I'll update you when we arrived safely. Thanks once again!
