Taxi to Tokyo station and N'EX 1 is the way I'd go.
It's also possible to take a slow train from Shinbashi "Airport Narita" - leaves at 6.06am and reaches Narita Airport at 7.34. (So you leave a few minutes earlier and arrive about 8 minutes later - but save a cab fare and an express train fee).

That would be a good fallback position in case tonto_b can't get a seat on NEX1. No experience of NEX1 but I suspect it is as popular as NEX3 which is often fully booked.

You can take Asakusa Line from Shimbashi (5:05) to Aoto and change (5:42) to Keisei local to Narita which arrives at 6:58. Should be just over Y1000 to get there plus taxi from Conrad to Shimbashi or you can take the Yurikamome for like Y200.

Thanks to all of you for your advice. I feel a bit more reassured now about getting NEX1. I guess my only previous experience of NRT (edited to avoid further funniness at my epense :-P ) was exceptional. Also, great to have the alternative route on the Keisei local.
Thanks all.
Thanks all.

For the sake of clarity - The train that I mentioned in my post is a JR train. It leaves JR Shinbashi Station at 6.06am and goes all the way to NRT with no changes required.
This is not the same as the route described by DL which is a subway and keisei route, which gets you to NRT earlier. (But the JR train gets there early enough).
As for getting to Shinbashi Station. It is easier and quicker to walk straight there from the Conrad than it is to take the Yurikamome line. Use the overhead walkways to avoid traffic and stairs.
If you have a lot of luggage you could take a cab to Shinbashi. It won't be much faster than walking.
