Japan Trusted Traveler Program (was: Automated gates)

Has anyone here signed up for this? I am looking into this. Immigration never takes too long at NRT, but the last time I departed from there exit immigration took 40+ minutes and I was starting to worry about making my flight. It would be nice to skip that.

Is this Reddit post accurate?

There's already a thread about Japan TTP program from another FT forum: Japan to begin Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) on Nov 1, 2016

If you already have Global Entry, it should be relatively easy for you; the downside is that you have to re-apply (not renew) every three years.
