Connection at NRT - question

Hi,
It's been over twelve years since I flew through Tokyo NRT and I simply don't remember the setup with a connection at that time.

I will be traveling this week through Tokyo to Singapore. I am not even on my own carrier (UA), I will be traveling DL to DL connection. What can I expect when I get off the first flight to make my connection (just under 2 hours upon arrival). Do I have to go through a passport control and back through Security?
Thanks for any help.

No, just security unless you want to step out into the landside shopping area.

Everyone gets off the plane together, walks for what seems like miles, and then there's a point where the transfer passengers peel off and had toward security while the stay-in-Japan passengers head toward Immigration and Customs.
