Upgrade using AA miles

Though it's supposedly been in the works for years now, OneWorld doesn't have any alliance wide upgrade program like Star Alliance. But even the one in Star Alliance is very limited since only the most expensive economy fares can be upgraded and those aren't the fares most people are buying, half the time discount business is cheaper (assuming you were able to plan in advance). I was only ever able to use it once when I bought a last minute one way ticket ORD-TYO on NH.
