Question JAL: adding a stopover possible after flight booked?

Hello,

Non JAL-member here, flying first time with them; they have long wait times for phone customer service, so asking here in case anyone knows:

We are flying JAL from SFO --> HCMC, with a stopover in NAR/HAN

Tix purchased. NOW my spouse says he would like to "stopover" for even a day in Tokyo. Hm. Is it possible for the $100 fee for a stopover, does this need a $250 change fee since tix already purchased, or is there any way to get around the fee (I am an HA member with 100,000+ miles -- they seem to share some miles with JAL?)

Thanks if you can advise so I don't have to get up at 6am to avoid waiting on the phone for +3 hours!

I don’t know what ticket you are referring to. Different tickets have different fare rules. Also if I book with a travel agent, then you will need to deal with the travel agent instead, if u haven’t started your trip.

but expect to pay penalty, ticketing fee, stopover fee, and fare differences if there’s any. Travel agency can and will tag on extra penalty.

No, and I wound up just calling them to ask: it was $250 to change, each.

We booked directly with JAL, through their website.
