They should have waited for one more day to establish the TBL so the prep company and JAL are both founded on Aug 1

but now u mentioned they get ideas and can flip this into marketing stunt, saying established a day earlier than mother company to symbolize rebirth or something like that

I am only thinking of the cost saving aspect. You only need to celebrate the anniversary once on Aug 1 instead of 2 days in a row

Looks like JAL LCC will get some competition with AirAsia planning to fly to the US West Coast via Japan by 2020. But they are targeting LAX and SFO and possibly use NGO as the hub instead of TYO.

A few airlines have proven they can setup on LCC subsidiary successfully though most have failed in this venture. I'll hold my verdict until there is a little bit more known about the concept. But the first warning sign would be the slow growth of the fleet, LCCs only works by economy of scales.

Zipair sounds so... 'foreign', I just can't stop comparing the name to Zipcar. Though considering other LCCs are named Peach and Vanilla, I suppose it fits right in.
9 across economy with a consideration of premium seats.. I'm guessing a few rows of Class J for the latter?
