Oh bugger! I have existing JL408 FRA-NRT award (USDM) in May next year. Mr and Edison Junior in J and Mrs Edison in F. Now with this news she will be downgraded to J? What other routes can we get on F from Europe with these changes?

It has been fixed and I've updated the OP to include the new seat map.

Seems like NRT-FRA will have 77W/SS7 again starting 01 Mar next year. But with 9 routes and only 13 77Ws, this will be a very tight operation for JAL.

So this sounds like FRA has replaced CGK as the route that would lose SS7 during maintenance check of one of the 777-300ERs

I'm currently booked in J on flight JL0003 in late April 2015. Using the seat map and seatguru it's going to be the NEO seats. Is this going to be updated/changed starting 1/1/15?

Bought a ticket for March, the other great upside for this is that I am now on an E190 instead E145 to go to JFK instead of ORD.

What are early thoughts on the best seats for a couple. JFK - NRT has wide open space right now so I moved an award from ORD - NRT on SS7/777 to JFK - NRT on the SS8/787.

My rationale was centered around the fact that on the new SS8, the middle section is aligned so you can talk to the person you're traveling with plus I find that on all Business Class flights, the J is sometimes treated a bit better than on flights with both J and F.

I went with row 7 center and I know that no one has flown it yet but does anyone have thoughts on whether the front bulkhead might be better or even another row?

Seems like there are considerably less storage space for the middle seats in C.

Interesting - it does look like the middle is nicely aligned for couples or traveling with someone else and having that is probably worth the reduced storage space

Actually because there is no motor to move the seat forward, it might be easier for couples to talk if the seats are not aligned. You don't have to lean forward or twist your body as much. I had no problem talking to my neighbor last time when I was at the window seat on SS7.
