This is awesome. I think I'm ready to just start flying JAL and paying for the seat rather than using miles. That J beats AA F!

WOW!! Amazing! JL put the real Sky Suite in J (not the inferior one from the 767) and kept 8-abreast in Y (the only airline in the world to do so)! I really hope they keep this configuration. Right now JL is looking so much better than NH or any other airline.

The real question is: will they operate this on intra-Asia routes (to BKK, SIN, KUL, etc.) or continue to use the existing 787 Shell Flat Neo product?

Ironically, the seat map here is completely mislabeled: https://www.jal.co.jp/aircraft/conf/787.html

NEO seats will stay for now. JAL may consider retrofitting them in the future.

How would any of you rate the SS7 F seat/experience in the 777 vs. the 778 seat/experience based o what you have read of the SS8 product?

My question stems from being booked on the 408 in F next June and now discovering it will be SS8 which is business class is it not?

F is just the extra attention and better food. It's up to you.

So the seat is more or less the same? That would help make the loss of F palatable a bit. It looks to be the basic seat. Just a more crowded cabin.

Are they at least going to cater the same wines as the F they are giving up? The C class wines are pretty average but the F wines are quite good.

They are not the same seat. F is much more comfortable given it is both wider and longer. Also it has a better mattress pad and comes with more functionalities.

Definitely won't be serving the same wines either.

Not at all... F has wide seats arranged 1-2-1 and tons of leg room, while SS8 is 2-2-2 and has much less real estate. SS8 does close the gap towards F.

F > SS8/SS7 > SS6 > NEO > the rest.

Thank you. Not exactly the news I wanted but the info is exactly what I was looking for. :-)

Yes, F is better than J, but the J seat in SS7 and SS8 is very, VERY good. It's closer to F than any other airline's J seat. And JL's J menu is also one of the best in the sky.

That's a winner! Can't wait to get on one of these.

Hopefully NRT-CDG is next after FRA and JFK. Unless they're waiting for the 789 on that route?
