My GF and I flew JL 746 from MNL to NRT in C on 27 November. Was looking forward to experiencing the SS6 Sky Suite but, unfortunately, our 767-300 had the old seats.

Service was excellent and the food was good so all was not lost.

I have been on pretty much every version of the skysuite but this, and just took it down to Singapore the other day and thought I would make these comments:
*definitely not wearing well, looks beat to cr@p, especially the front rows with these crazy looking black metal cowlings around the video screens.
*generally the least aesthetically enjoyable JL plane I have been on, and since I transferred from a new Dreamliner I really noticed this. The plane looks beat up and the layout is very visually crammed.
*That said, if you can sleep on your side, you will be ok. I got 4 or so hours of good sleep on this, was pleasantly surprised by that.

It seems like 2 of the 3 SIN-TYO flights right now are 767, so I grabbed the 9:50PM SIN-HND for the ride home on a new configuration 772, which I like (more than 767 for sure) if you get a window seat.

Find the 767 very narrow compared to the 772. Both window and middle have felt more comfy than the 767. I'm more wide than long so that may influence. I know some on here were not happy with the 772 but personally very happy.

agree with the feedback on SS6 esp on the red-eye flights like SIN, it is just not good for sleeping. pillow is nice but too big that it will not fit when full flat. i tried this couple of times on a red-eye to SIN and can't sleep at all. only nice thing about it are the wide side tables. I usually sleep better on an old 787 with shell flat neo in a cradle position. hopefully JL can do something about this soon. They can send these planes to HNL, GUM and all other resort routes or the shorter ICN/GMP/TSA routes and deploy SS2 instead on routes that are red-eyes.

Half of the 777-200ER fleet have been retrofitted. The remaining half will be done in the current fiscal year. All flights to HNL will have Sky Suites by the summer. So I guess SIN routes will have to wait till after summer for a chance to upgrade to SS2.

Great news for me! I'm set to try the SS6 product from HNL in the late summer, and was worried about getting equipment swapped.

I just noticed that the JL flights from Tokyo to SIN for next year are all Sky Suite 3 in J class. It used to be 2 flights with Sky Suite 2 and one flight with the older Sky Suite 1. Are they phasing out Sky Suite 2? If they get rid of Sky Suite 2, I don't think I would fly JL J anymore. There are many airlines that have the slanted Sky Suite 3 type seats. The main reason I switched to JL is because of Sky Suite 2. Does anyone here know about the status of Sky Suite 2?

I guess it has more to do with plane types. Singapore has mainly been 767s with the Thompson Vantage seat. But this seat type is only on the 767,and it is not generally being phased out. But if a bigger plane is being applied the seats will change.

Anyone flown the SSII with a companion. Been debating whether to take two middle seats or take a window and middle where the seat are close to each other. I was thinking of taking 3A / 3D. I enjoy window seating, but also enjoy conversing with my wife : - \ Figured that might be the best of both worlds? Or should we just choose the middle seats and be done with it.

Do the middle two seat have an extendable divider that could be brought down / extended for additional privacy?

We'll be flying the NRT-CGK 18:00 Departure for an eight hour flight

there’s no extendable divider. But you can use your cabinet door as a poor man extendable divider.
