GPS App vs Google/Apple Maps

We will be driving a bit around Tuscany on our next trip. Will I be safe with using my phone's Google or APple maps or should I get an Italy specific GPS App?

Thanks

I've found Google maps to be just fine for driving around Italy. If you are going to remote locations with poor signal, you might consider a Garmin or caching maps but otherwise it is no problem.

It's been okay with google maps here. Sometimes I've been in remote area with poor cell signal. We've made do(map caching) but might want to consider a proper gps or gps app with offline maps.
