Howdy,

Going from memory on this...

1. I never paid anyone to be an Ambassador.
2. There was a promo to be an Ambassador with some number of nights/stays (don't remember).

Anyway...

Within a few months of switching over to PC/IC - I likely spent well over 7k (350/room/night?).

I called PC - complained about status; asked for RA. Finally got someone to pay attention, after like 15 minutes - I got this "Oh yes, no problem - you'll have it in 4 weeks.". I persisted. My status was changed within the hour.

Therefore - you do not have to be an Ambassador for 1 full year. If I was an Ambassador - it was for weeks at the longest.

I do tend to book decent rooms, and I think last year I ended up doing 50-60 nights at IC's all over the place (I was splitting my nights between hilton and PC - but this year I'm 100% PC/IC).

Keep the faith,

Pakse

RA re-qualification

when the re-qualification "sweep" happens a few months before expiry what time period is checked? - the previous 12 months? or is a run rate done based on the Ambassador year?

Thanks

The time period checked is supposedly the 12 months prior to the date of the sweep.

Requalifed for RA with 56 QNs

I just checked my account status and under Other Activity my RA renewal posted January 30th. My Ambassador year runs May 1 through April 30.

Using Feb 2009 through Jan 2010 for requalification purposes, my stats are as follows:

56 total IHG Qualifying Nights, equally split between IC and non-IC. The 28 IC QNs were spent at 8 different IC properties (a one-year personal record).

I don't know if this made any difference, but I also had 14 additional paid room nights for extended family members (Overlapping Stays) ... all in non-IC properties.

RA requalification remains a mystery. I also have April-expiring RA, and did not get auto-renewed yesterday despite having logged 64 paid PC nights between Feb 1, 2009 and Jan 31, 2010 (including 53 nights at 11 different ICs). I have another 15 IC nights between now and April 30, but if that's not enough for renewal, I'm done with PC.

Did you get "the letter" or have you just heard nothing? With 64 nights, you should be good to go without any problem. Let us know what Ambassador services says...

Magic Number

I got Royal Ambassador today, after a cozy sleep the magic number for me is 50.
I always booked the cheapest room, so i think my situation might be useful:

First stay on 2009 is March, non-qs, pointbreaks.

First qualified stay is on may 28.

50 Qualifying nights so far ( 11 Qualifying Nights in IC, 3 overlapping nights ,7 non-Qualifying Nights), and i visited 6 different ICs for Qualifying Nights, and 2 more ICs if non-qualifying nights considered).in the 50 QSs, i have 17 + 3 overlapping nights in this January! i think it could be also a portion in RA Qualifying(yeah, i have 26 QSs after i become Ambassador on 1DEC)

so i think IC stay is crucial

Is it ever possible to get RA with only staying in one IC for say 2 nights but about 100 nights at others mainly CP.?

Normally, no. You need to stay in at least 3 different IC's. However from some reports we have seen here, they seem to be more lenient right now so perhaps it is possible.

I've now got 65 nights, (25 IC at 5 different IC and 40 CP) and just been told on the phone that CP nights do not count, so will not be considered for RA

I'm through with IC....

I'm sure you just got someone who didn't know what they were talking about. I've got a number of CP nights, and am 100% sure that they counted towards my RA.

I'd just call again.
