Your experiences with "Quality performer" ratings

Do you take IHG's "Quality performer" ratings (those ratings for some hotels, such as "excellence" or "commendable", that appear to the upper right of each hotel listed on the Reservation Desk page) into consideration when making a reservation on the IHG website? If so, have you found these ratings to be more or less reliable?

For my present trip, I made reservations at three HIX's that I selected based partly on these ratings. I have stayed at two of the three so far, and have been pleased with the results. What have your experience with these ratings been?

I don't place a ton of emphasis on the ratings in comparison with other factors, but I will lean toward more highly-rated properties when it comes down to that aspect. I would also have to agree that in my experience, the properties that earn the highest ratings tend to deserve them in comparison with those who don't do quite so well.
