My account the points showed up immediately. P2 points still have not posted 2 hours after purchase, but do have a confirmation email.

Update: Wife’s points have still not posted. I see the charge as pending on my credit card so I know it went through. Odd my other points posted within minutes.

I also attempted (as a test) to buy more points on her account and it says I have purchased the max allowed this year and to check back in 2023. I purchased the max amount so that makes sense. Just not sure why there is a lag. Never had that before with IHG

I purchased the max too. Doubt that is a mere coincidence.

My best guess is that points.com were scammed by chargebacks or other fraud, so they have protocols in place to manually review maxed out (and perhaps other large) transactions.

I agree. It's just random and we won't know if our purchase will have the points to be deposited immediately. It might depend on your IP address, bank verification, etc...

@traveler-Dave, @DaveH - how long did it finally take after purchase for your purchased points to show up?

Thanks.

Full $1,500 purchase applied instantly today

An interesting data point.

My relative also had the 100% offer, and he gifted the full amount to the same account which had already purchased the full $1,500 in points two weeks ago. Because its year's allotment had already been bought, I wasn't 100% sure the gift points would process at all.

Not only did they post, but this time they processed and posted almost instantly, along with an accompanying confirmation email. So perhaps IHG has made these transactions smoother,.

Now that IHG have implemented Dynamic awards pricing fairly widely, does anyone have some hints where points are still more valuable than just paying cash?

Do you have either or both of the Chase/IHG cards, one of which provides a 10% rebate on all redemptions, and the other of which provides the fourth night free on a four-consecutive-night redemption stay?

Edited to add: Sorry, I just saw that you are based in Australia; don't know whether IHG offers similar credit cards there.

Even without credit-card deals, assuming that you can buy points at 0.5 U S. cents apiece (which is common when IHG runs one of their periodic 100% bonus-point sales), San Francisco has some good point-redemption offers this week:

Yes you definitely can, but the problem now is knowing where to find them.

The general concensus is that individual nights should be booked for a multi-night award stay. Then you need to monitor how dynamic pricing is affecting your booked dates and cancel/rebook if the rate goes down.
