You can buy points in general. The rate per point depend on the number of points you buy.- 1000 to 10000 IHG Rewards Club Points are $13.50 per 1000 Points
- 11000 to 25000 IHG Rewards Club Points are $11.50 per 1000 Points
- 26000 or more IHG Rewards Club Punkte are $10.00 per 1000 Points
IHG uses points.com for the transaction, so it is not a IHG hotel related payment

Just a heads up. You can again buy points with IHG for this rate. In addition, they have raised the limit to 250000 points / per year.
The 100% bonus kicks in with as low as 3000 points (but then you do not get the 10 USD / 1k points ratio). The promotion runs till June 15, 2020

Correct, during the validity of the promotion the maximum purchase limit has been raised to 250k per year and if you purchase a minimum of 3k points you additionally receive a bonus of 100% - that yields 50c per point.
In my not so long experience with major hotel programs, I have never seen a bonus bigger than 100%.

May I ask which browser you used to purchased the points? I’ve attempted 20x over the last 3 days using 3 different credit cards and different browsers and all had an authentication error. Spent 1.5 hours with IHG and they tried to purchase the points for me and they received the same error message? Was told others were reporting similar issues but clearly you managed to buy points! Thank you!

thank you for your help. it's odd i've tried IE, chrome, and safari and just tried again with another cc and still the same authentication error. will try to find another device to try on firefox later today.

Thanks for the information. Odd I started off w safari on an iPad and have tried on at least 3 different devices. I’ve even logged into cc accounts to make sure the address/phone number matches exactly. Maybe the don’t like Visa cards? All 4 cards I’ve tried were visas.
