A tradition of Kimpton is to have secret social passwords periodically during the year (note - this means there are periods when there isn't a password). Any guest mentioning the password at check-in will be given an amenity at the discretion of the hotel. This thread lists the current password and what members received.

Based on recent history, there is a winter password that starts around the US Thanksgiving Holiday in November through the end of February and a summer password that starts around the US Memorial Day Weekend in May and ends around the US Labor Day Holiday in September.

Current Password "Chalet All Day"
Valid Between 1 December 2023 and 29 February 2024

Official postings will come from Kimpton via social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and X (fka., Twitter).
The thread documenting what was offered in previous years may be found here - https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/othe...rd-thread.html

Q. What happens if a property isn't aware of the secret password promotion?
A. If you have a mobile device, go to Kimpton's Facebook or Instagram feed, find their post announcing the secret password, and show it to the uninformed staff member. If needed, escalate to a supervisor. After the fact, send a note to IHG Customer Care or post a message via social media to Kimpton's attention.

Q. Is the promotion limited to IHG Rewards/IC Ambassador members only?
A. No, the promotion is open to any guest with a reservation at the hotel.

Q. Is the promotion good for award stays or is it only for paid stays?
A. The promotion is good for any stay, paid or award.

Q. What if I forget to mention the password when I check in?
A. You can always try and mention it at the front desk later during your stay and see if they will honor it. YMMV.

I checked in Tuesday just after midnight at the Hotel Monaco Baltimore, and the young desk clerk had no clue what I was talking about when I explicitly said, "Secret password? Social password?". She said that she would make a note of it.
When I checked out yesterday morning, I told the two desk clerks about "the check-in incident", and I asked if there was anything that they could do for me while I immediately suggested free parking -- which they promptly gave me.
Then one of the clerks pointed at the small treasure box in the corner several feet away and noted that the box contained the freebies from which to draw.

Checked into the Kimpton Fitzroy London 12/5/19. Front desk agent was aware, smiled and gave me a 15 pound bar credit in the form of a small voucher.

For one morning or the whole stay?

Has anyone managed to get the resort fee waived in lieu of a welcome gift using the password? I have a stay at the Kimpton in Manchester, VT and they have a $30 resort fee. Or should I see what they offer first?

Checked in again at The Lorien on Thursday (this time, for a 2-night stay). They still didn't have their elaborate selection ploy set up, and as I didn't need parking, the clerk offered a $30 food/beverage credit, which I wanted and used by eating at Brabo last night.

Yay. I’ve been waiting for a new password. Will be in Chicago the week before Christmas.

Of course, the $30 credit was not there on the checkout bill, had to request its presence, which was provided forthwith.

Kimpton Palomar San Diego. The Desk Agent put on Reindeer Antlers and you had to toss rings at her to win. I won a $25 bar credit. Very nice effort.

Kimpton Van Zandt Austin - I was the first to play. You got to select from 3 wrapped boxes. I won 5000 points. Not sure what the other offers were.

Does the secret password work only if you book the hotel directly at Kimpton?

If I book Kimpton hotel through Expedia or Priceline, can I still use the secret password?

Does anyone know what you get at New York ink48?

Makes no difference where or how you book.

Kimpton Hotel Monaco Denver 12/19 - at check-in, I received a gift box with a small mug, packet of cocoa and a cute stuffed moose. A few minutes after we got to the room, room service brought us a complimentary bottle of wine and a huge platter of fruit and chocolate toffee. I thought these were kind of cool!

Hotel Monaco DC

Choice of a Gift box (candy, fidget spinner, and some other stuff), Free Movie and Popocorn or $40 bar credit. The choice was obvious. Way to go Monaco.
