using Expedia and then trying for upgrade
I've noticed that Expedia lists availability in Berlin when neither the Interconti or the 800- number show availability. If I book through Expedia, is it likely that Interconti would upgrade me(I'm 6CCExec)? Any experiences or suggestions? Thanks.

I've never tried this with InterContinental, but I have booked much cheaper Holiday Inn rates on Expedia than Six Continents were offering, and still got upgraded.

Let us know how you get on if you try it!
