In February, I was upgraded to a low floor suite at HI Golden Mile. I was there for only one night, and used points.

Are you the one that uploaded the video on youtube?

This sounds like an operational upgrade. Maybe they were overbooked.

Nope, no video from me. As a platinum member, I do occasionally get a room upgrade.

I mentioned above about stairs... were you referring to my comment?

I was talking about getting from the MTR to the hotel. The exit near the hotel has a lot of stairs.

The hotel has lifts.

Does anybody know the upgrade situation at this hotel? Do they actually upgrade to executive lounge rooms?

AFAIK, many rooms (at least certain categories like Premium) were renovated, even that was 10+years ago or more. When staying in 2007 for project work, the hotel always emphasized having upgraded me to "renovated" premium room.

Either way, I stayed a bit before Covid and then the room looked okay, but edging on the tired side. Not sure something happened since then.

Worst case, drop an email to their reservations team and ask which rooms / category most recently renovated.

Personally, I'd only stay there if the price is very attractive.
