Question Capital One Rewards Transfer

I recently did a promotion with Capital One and now have 150,000+ points. I have no real travel plans coming up and was wondering where I should move the miles to. Years ago it made sense to transfer them to an airline alliance. At the moment, Capital One Rewards are transferring to Avianca LifeMiles at a 1:1 ratio. Does it still make sense to transfer to LifeMiles while they are 1:1? I don't anticipate much use for Avianca, but I do have some trips in mind that could easily be Star Alliance.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have an urgent need to move these points? Speculative transfers are generally a bad idea as the points are then locked with that program and while AV has some good redemption rates it has poor customer service.

Indeed. I would not move the points until you have a general idea of when and where you are going to travel. Once they are transferred into a mileage program they are stuck there; you won't be able to move them back to Chase and are stuck with that program's peculiarities.

Thanks Yoshi and LondonElite. I thought it was more important to move them to an alliance while the exchange rate is 1:1. Thanks for setting me straight.
