Passports/ wait
Hello, I’ve currently been waiting 15wks for my passport in which has been and is still in processing. I went to my local post office that accepts passport applications with everything I needed already in hand, which made to process quick and easy. I also paid expedited processing ($60)... I did this 7/17/19. On 7/22/19 my application started processing. I’ve been checking online and even calling to see if they can give me more details... but nothing has changed. Any advice on what I can do to find out more about my application, will be greatly appreciated
what’s the longest anyone has waited to receive their passport or denial letter?

Routine passport applications generally take 6-8 weeks; expedited take 2-3 weeks (according to the U.S. State Dept. website).

As suggested, contact your U.S. Congressperson's office. They will be able to help you.

This is unacceptable if the OP paid for expedited processing.

Just to confirm what I suspect from the reference to $ in the first post, though several other countries use that symbol for their currency too (even if, like Chile, they don't call the larger unit a dollar): this is about a U.S. passport, right? Lots of FTers are from other places. A question about waiting for a passport could apply to just about any of them.

There are occasions when a passport is held up because further investigation is required. Sometimes State will reach out to the applicant for individual follow up and sometimes there will be nothing said.
If on the other hand, the delay is because an application slipped off someone's desk, a note from a Congressional office will shake it loose. If the delay is due to further investigation, the response to Congress is usually something vague such as "national security followup."
For what it is worth, this can be as simple as having a name and associated information which is fairly close to a "bad guy".

Again, this assumes we are talking about a U.S. passport. I agree that this is most likely, if only because FTers from other countries are more likely to say which passport they're talking about, but it would be nice if the OP would come back and confirm that (and perhaps add a home location to his/her profile).
