Insurance when booking award travel?

Insurance always pops up when booking flights using points. Is it needed or a waste of money? Thanks

It depends on the terms and conditions.
But I doubt it is worth it.

What does the insurance cover? And do you hold a credit card that covers similar perils on mileage-redemption flights?

Insuring an award ticket seems silly when they're cancellable for reasonable fees. That's your insurance policy.
