Getting to DPS on points with stopovers
Hello all,
I would like some suggestions on the best use of points (and to get them) to get to Bali with some stopovers along the way in J or F.
I dont travel that often so I dont have a huge amount of miles but Im not afraid of a few CC bonuses or buying miles at (hopefully) decent price.
Ill be traveling with my husband so I would need two awards. Im looking to travel August/September 2020. Id really like to take advantage of stopovers and see as many countries as reasonably possible in a 2-3 week time frame.
Im on the east coast and will fly out of JFK/EWR/PHL.
In terms of credit card points, I have 90k UR points through CSP/Freedom and 10k TY points from Citi Prestige.
Im considering applying for Amex Gold ( saw an offer for 50k MR points) and Alaska Airlines 40k bonus.
I was cosidering SQ in J for ~200k JFKSIN-DPS with a stopover in FRA. Id like to take the train to Amsterdam from FRA before continuing on to SIN. (This assumes I transfer Amex, Citi and UR and have an extra 50k points by the time I need to book) .
Id like to use the Alaska bonus plus purchasing 60k (assuming they have another mileage sale at some point) for about $1700.
I would then use the 100k miles to book DPS-HKG-JFK on CX with a stopover in HKG. My husband and I could also both apply for the Alaska CC but hes not as into applying for credit cards for the points.
Suggestions? I am not married to these routings other than I want to get to DPS in a premium seat that allows for stopovers somewhere I can explore.
Would two award tickets be feasible on these routes?

Not trying to be rude but with your current points portfolio, you are quite a ways away from getting 2x award tickets to many cities and with your husband not wanting to get CC's for points, that makes it even harder. The good news is you are starting out well in advance and award seats for your dates won't open up until Sept/ Oct 2019 anyway. If you are considering AMEX already, debate looking into the Platinum card with 100k bonus. 1 card can get you a good start, 2 can get you very close.
First thing that comes to mind is a round the world ticket. Google: ANA RTW awards and read up on those - may be the easiest to pull off. Also, you don't have to use one airline/ program for the whole thing. I am flying from JFK-AUH-SIN (cash SIN-Bali) first Etihad in November on one award (American) then another home DPS-HKG-SFO Cathay business (Alaska).
You can also look into award services for assistance as well (there's a thread here to read up on).

Awards start to become available 355/330 days out to just before departure. Or are never available for the dates you want
Getting 2 long haul premium awards is hard.
What ff programs are you a member of now and how many ff miles/points/avios?
Have you redeemed a ff award before?
Most ffp's now do not allow stopovers. So will be a series of separate one way awards.
Have you traveled long haul in business class? Airlines/aircraft with long haul first class are decreasing.
Did you do this trip (2016)--->newbie Award/ routing question
Other USA Bali award thread (there are others)-

Thanks for the suggestions. I know I am stretching it here but at least I have some time on my side. @skaars I didn't really think about a RTW through ANA. I will read up on it. I unfortunately already had the Amex Platinum so I don't think I'm eligible for a sign up bonus again.
@Mwenenzi I did take that trip however I ended up doing JFK-AUH-MLE on Etihad in J (AA miles booked when they opened almost a year out) and SIN-JFK (SQ miles in economy). I also used Air Asia in between MLE-KUL-SIN. I don't plan on flying Air Asia again after that experience, however you live and you learn
.
I am trying to pick up where I left off from that trip since I wanted to go to HKG but didn't end up getting there on that trip.
