A few really newbie questions about joining multiple programs
Can you sign up for multiple Frequent Flyer Programs that use the same 'currency' (in my case I've chosen to go with Avios) or do you have to pick one?
For example: can I sign up for the following at the same time?
1.) BA program
2.) main Avios site
3.) Iberia
They have links with different companies and shops that I use anyway so it would be easier for me to accumulate miles outside of flying if I could sign up with all three.
If it is possible to sign up for multiple programs are there any others you'd recommend that would fit in with these?
Also, I was looking into joining a hotel loyalty program as well (maybe IHG) as I stay in hotels often when I'm travelling within the UK and it looks like you can redeem their rewards for miles.

Short answer to all your questions is yes. I myself have a BA, IB, and regular Avios account as well.
Other program, could be Lufthansa, but being in UK, you are better off with Avios.
As for IHG, they do have numerous hotel through out the world, might as well capitalize and enjoy their program as well. Keep in mind that it is not always beneficial to redeem hotel points for miles points as most of the times you tend to loose on the exchange, sometimes its best redeem points on their own program, rather than interchange them. However, every once in a while there may be some promotion where they may double up the redemption, then it might come in handy. Good luck.
