Worthwhile United Matches?

As a new 1k member, would anyone have a list of recommended airlines I may match with?

Thank You!

You need to provide some more information if you want an intelligent answer. Matching for the sake of matching is not worth it unless you just like collecting membership cards. You should have a plan to fly some other airline before you consider a match.

As this is a question from a United flier asking about status matching to an airline other than United, I'll move this thread over to the Information Desk

+1, some airline limit the frequency of matches, so match now and not make use will limit your ability to match in the future when really needed.

Additionally, some airlines charge a fee for a match or challenge.

As a general rule many *A airlines will not match an existing *A elite. Not completely universal but common.

Some non-airline "matches" to consider are using your UA status to get Marriott Gold status and Hertz President's Circle

Thanks all,

Singapore and Cathay don't match, EVA won't because it's also *A, and Garuda, well, not sure there's much to be gained there.
