Flight weight limits

Hi, I'm flying to Greece (from UK) next week and I only have 5kg hand luggage. Will they actually weigh my bag or will it be ok to be over slightly? Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Your question is best asked in the forum for the airline you are flying. Alert a Moderator, and ask him/her to move your thread to the correct forum.

Although I've never flown any real LCCs, my understanding is that only these really get their knickers wound up about hand luggage weight. I fly a wide range of airlines around Europe every couple of days, and have a Tumi trolley that weighs about 12kgs, and it has never been weighed in the last 15 years.

Actually, it happens on legacies, too. Probably depends on loads, operating conditions, etc., but sometimes just an over-zealous ticket agent. For example, just in the past few years, Cathay has weighed our roll-aboards on tpac flights, and given us major grief when over by just one kg. And that was with paid biz class seats. (After we pointed out that our checked bags were far below the maximum allowances, and being adamant that the carry-on contents could not be checked, TA finally relented.)

As indicated upthread, the only definitive answer will be from the airline you're flying. If you check the forum for that carrier, you might be able to tell how strict they are. If you decide to try being overweight, just be prepared to rearrange or leave something behind if the bag gets weighed.

Yes, had OS and SK also weight the carry-on sometimes depending on the agent at the check-in. If you do online check-in and do not go to the check-in desk you will mostly not get any trouble there.
