Question HHonors App Check -in

So I recently booked a Hilton hotel and I noticed that when the app updated to show my most recent booking I have the option to 'check-in' at the push of a button on my iphone. Now I am sure someone has asked this before so sorry if its an old question but doesnt that mean if there is a great 'run' deal anywhere on the planet I can make a cheap reservation, check in with the CC i have on file from the comfort of my couch in NY and just let the reservation play out?? Does the hotel care that I never set foot in my room??

Yes, they do, and in accordance with the Hilton HHonors Terms and Conditions, you may achieve transferring your hard earned money to Hilton without earning one mile for your troubles - much like buying an airline ticket and "no showing", you'll have a great chance to earn no miles or points (though having your boardin pass scanned and then disappearing will undoubtedly ensue in a much more significant security flap).

To earn HHonors Points for hotel stays, a Member must be a registered, paying guest at a participating hotel within the Hilton Worldwide portfolio and meet all of the conditions described herein...

No points, miles, or credit toward tier status will be awarded for "no show" situations when a Member has made a reservation guaranteed with a credit card but then does not check in to the hotel--irrespective of whether or not the Member's credit card is charged for any portion of the reserved stay per the hotel's "no show" policy.
It's quite easy for management, because they'll see no keycard was given and Housekeeping will most likely report it.

Do that a few times, perhaps you won't have a Hilton account?

But ask in the Hilton | HHonors forum; they have a HHonors rep who can answer your question from their point of view.

Welcome to FlyerTalk. Since your query relates specifically to the HHonors program, it is off topic for this forum, so this thread is now closed. (Please see the Read Before Posting announcement at the top of the forum for more detailed guidance on which topics are suitable for the Info Desk.)

Please read through FT's dedicated Hilton forum to see if this matter has been discussed previously. Then, if you still need feedback, please post your questions there.

Thanks!
