Finnair or Singapore in economy?
Looking to fly LHR - BNE returning SYD - LHR in economy with a small child and a new baby + 3 adults.
Singapore would be quicker and only one stop, but costs a lot more.
Finnair would be LHR - HEL - HKG with Finnair then Qantas to BNE, returning SYD - SIN on Qantas, SIN - HEL on Finnair and HEL - LHR on BA. There's an extra stop plus 6 hours or so in HKG on the way out.
Other than money v time and convenience, is there anything specific to these airlines we should take into account? Comfort, family friendliness, seat pitch etc?

Minimum transits would be a criteria for me.
UK to Australia is a very competitive market. Are you locked into OneWorld airlines? Is LHR the best departure city or another city in UK? Others airlines to consider are from the middle east - Emirates & Eithaid. And then the Asian & Chinese carriers. SYD-BNE is a short trip, but a hassle to transit in SYD (terminal change)

I guess the first consideration is if the more expensive option is within your budget or related to that, would you rather do something else with the extra cash.
Thinking back to the days when my kid was younger, I'd generally err on the side of the shorter trip with fewer connections. It will be easier on the adults and on the kids.
I'd look on the airlines' websites for seat info on the aircraft types they'll operate on your itinerary, hopefully it will have some pitch numbers and maybe seat photos, or try searching on the airline forum here for any reviews and comments.
But, Singapore is likely to be the winner in terms of hard and soft product in my mind anyway. As it's the shorter trip as well, I'd choose that option if I could afford it.
However as noted upthread, unless you're locked in to oneworld airlines, there are other options worth looking into, if you haven't already, that could be just as convenient/timely and perhaps cheaper.
