Post Help needed for a flight from India to USA

Dear FTers,

Need your help in booking a ticket (economy class) from India (Bangalore) to USA (DTW, IAD, Chicago, Philly or NYC).

I have about 100000 avios, 100000 AA miles and about 70000 UA miles.

This is for a relative of mine - I know that I can book a flight for someone else using my awards.

I tried booking etihad using AA, but most of the award flights require more AA miles than what I have with me at present.

Dates I'm looking for: May 22 (+3/4 days is OK) to July 8 (+3 days OK).

Thanks and hope this is the right forum to post such questions (mods: if I posted this in the wrong forum, kindly move it to the right section. TIA)

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry: BlackBerry8530/5.0.0.601 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/417)

Call AA and ask about availability on 9W (to/from EWR), and on QR to/from JFK, PHL, or IAD.

You can also look at redeeming an AA award from BLR to/from TXL or DUS, and then redeeming Avios for TXL/DUS-JFK on AB (no surcharge for Avios redemptions on AB)

Keep in mind that AA, BA, and UA all offer one-way awards on their partners.

The one-way tip above might help you. UA has availability into NYC from BLR on 18-22 of May and again on 26-29 for 42.5k plus taxes and fees.

Then you could try and get an Etihad or other AA award, or find some more UA miles for the return. Note that is the end of what will be a holiday weekend for many, so you might jump on the return as soon as you find availability.

FWIW, UA shows no availability going back on July 8 on their calendar, but if you look closer there is a flight available. It's a long route, kind of interesting to some FT'ers maybe, but maybe difficult for some people as it is NYC/CAI/BKK/BLR. It is also just 42.5 plus tax/fees.

thank you both for replying. I ended up booking UA from BLR to NYC as per maverick's suggestion.
