The only issue i see with the above itinerary is the erj flight, for someone who has a fear of tight spaces that may be an issue

considering that the price of the economy seat is approx $1000, biz at 2300 is a good value, I would book it.

Embraer Regional Jet - they're reasonably spacious for regional jets, but are certainly smaller than, say an A320 or 737. They're used typically on short haul routes. They're not bad, and I imagine you'd be OK in one up front.

He used ITA matrix to find it (http://matrix.itasoftware.com) but you can't book there - Hipmunk (and quite a few others) use the same search engine.

Traveling in August should mean reasonably priced summer business class sales to europe, similar to what was posted above.

In Matrix, for your departure city put in (without quotes) "yyz,dtw" to search from both YYZ and DTW. In the destination box put in "muc" (or any other nearby cities that have decent train options to MUC), select flexible dates and search for August for the length of time you want to be in Europe; finally select business class or higher in the cabin option.

Voila, you should see a calendar of departure dates and prices, once you find the one you want, it might be easily found on Hipmunk or Kayak, if not, we can help you find a way to book it.

Good deals in business and first class are posted there - but it's certainly hit and miss, and not just limited to europe.

You can also try google.com/flights. Put the in cities that you can leave from like YYZ,DTW and the cities you are considering flying to like MUC,FRA,ZUR and pick business class. If you want to get an idea about how long the train takes to get between cities and the cost try bahn.com.

Not true in all cases. Some airlines, IIRC AA and UA, still offer both FC and business class on some domestic flights such as nonstop coast-to-coast.

However, AFAIK Air Canada only offers business class internationally, not FC, and has no genuine three-cabin domestic flights either, although I'm not sure what they do about premium economy or economy plus currently.
