I have top alliance tier on 6 airlines (plus high status on some non-aligned airlines), and have done for years. Already have lifetime status on 2 alliances and close(ish) for the 3rd.

I have BA GGL and LH HON (top status for LH) and that fit all my travel needs.

No need for any status on Skyteam as I am not a frequent traveler on AF or KLM.

I have top tier on all three alliances, via Platinum on QR, 1K on United, and Gold on Air France, all through flying (as opposed to status matches). Though my AF status will end on 02/28/14.

(I also have Star Gold via TK and oneworld Ruby via CX; I will probably transition my Star Gold away from UA to TK in the next couple of years, and I haven't decided whether to use QR or CX for oneworld -- it depends on how Plat on QR works for me this year. Also have Gold on EK.)

I have top tier with AA/US, DL, and UA for the first time this year and going into the next year. That puts me at top tier within all three alliances too. I hope I can keep it up for requalification, and also that I can enjoy the benefits that all three alliances offer!

Do you still have a wife and family?

The most I ever did in one year was AA EXP and Delta Platinum.

But all that travel put a strain on my marriage.

Just reached top tier with all 3 alliances for 2016, all on self-paid leisure travel, anyone done that?

Top tier in 2 alliances was with flying, the third alliance was mid-tier with flying, now top tier with status match.

I once had United 1K (Star Alliance Gold), Qatar Platinum (oneworld Emerald), and Flying Blue Platinum (SkyTeam Elite Plus) overlapping for a bit less than a year. All by flying (no status matches).

Yes, I was very pleased with myself.
