Transfer in BOM
Hi People,
Will be in India next month and was wondering about transfers.
I will be travelling BLR-BOM-SYD-ADL and am after any info re the transfer in BOM, as well as having bags checked right through.
BLR-BOM will be on 9W, while BOM-SYD-ADL will be on QF.
I know I will need to collect bags and clear customs in SYD.
Thanks in advance.....

9W will check you luggage thru to the final destination and you have to hand them the luggage after collecting it from the belt in BOM:

I will be transitting BOM next month. I will come in on LH in First Class, and departing on UL to CMB in Business Class. My layover is from 1am - 3:25am, so about 2.5 hours. Since I don't have much time, I don't really want to leave the terminal, but I wanted to confirm that I can stay airside while I wait.
I asked this question about MAA back in THIS thread. Turns out I *was* able to stay airside at MAA (even though it was the most boring 8 hours of my life).
Can I do the same at BOM?

Yes UL also will give you lounge access, but that place is tiny..

I used it in 2005. If you found the MAA lounges to be no good, don't raise your hope for the clipper lounge

The "Clipper Lounge" at MAA was **NASTY**. They gave me ONE free drink (or two cans of beer) for my 8 hour layover. I had to pay for the others, and I had no Indian Rupees. Did they accept credit cards? No. Did they accept Euros? No. Did they accept Sri Lanka Rupees? No. They accepted Dollars, but I had none. Also, no cash machine airside at MAA. No visa, so couldn't go to machine landside. Lounge agent offered to try and exchange my Sri Lanka Ruppes landside. Guess what? They wouldn't accept them in India! Sorry, one drink doesn't "do it" for BJ over 8 hours!

I see the Clipper at BOM has free beer, so maybe there is hope. I'd probably love a shower, but I guess that won't happen. I'm flying PRG-FRA-BOM-CMB-SIN-BKK that "day", so I would appreciate one....

Thanks for the info! ^

Ben, no praise for the greenback, but when travelling in Asia you always need to carry a wad of one (US) dollar bills. Very useful in tricky situations. The beer (in cans) was free in the BOM clipper lounge, but the MAA clipper is atleast 2-3 times the size of the BOM one, so I wouldn't hold my breath. The toilets in that place are pretty much the same as in the MAA one. No showers AFAIK. BOM T2 will change rapidly, so hope for great things to come. OTOH direct flights to other indian gateway are increasing, so I guess I won't travel thru BOM that often in the future.

Bumping an old thread rather than starting a new one.
What is the latest on transfering in BOM? I might be doing a MR and a quick <3 hours turnaround. Can it be done?
Do I need a visa?

1. Doable
2. I dont think you need a visa
National U.S.A. (US) /Transit INDIA (IN)
Destination U.S.A. (US)
ALSO CHECK DESTINATION INFORMATION BELOW
INDIA (IN)
Visa not required provided holding:
- confirmed onward ticket for first available connection to a
third country. Leaving the airport transit area is not
allowed;
OR
- a PIO (Person of Indian Origin) card.
Note: international transfer facilities are very limited at
most Indian airports. Passengers in transit through airports
with limited facilities will need to be escorted to their
connecting flight. Please contact carrier(s) concerned to check
if transit is possible.
Indians on acquiring or holding another nationality must
contact their embassy/high commission for further information.
Non-compliance with transit regulations result in fines for
the carrier and deportation of passenger to point of origin on
same or first available flight.

Hi -
I have an int'l transfer from BA F to Kingfisher Y on my way in and a train to BA F transfer on my way out of BOM. I have a Priority Pass card. My Qs:
1) Are showers available at any of the lounges I could access? This is particularly desirable on the return leg (from the international terminal), coming off an overnight train journey.
2) Ditto the domestic lounges, while awaiting the IT flight.
3) Apart from the showers, which lounges do people recommend in the terminals BA and IT use?
4) If there aren't any showers at the airport, as I suspect, any tips for day rooms at hotels near the international terminal?
Thanks.

3) BA is pretty basic so is IT
4) You can go over to kohinoor hotel or tunga paradise - 15 -25 mins from airport and should cost about 100 dollars
