Itinerary--first trip to India

Hi all,

I have 10 days in India, first time, will be arriving and departing from BOM, in JULY. I am thinking 3 days in Mumbai, and then at least 3 days in Kochi, and not sure if I should add 2 days in Chennai, or stay in the Kochi area and do more day trips or move around in the Kerala region. However, it will be 3 hotels max for the trip, if not 2, I don't want to do more hassle. I am hoping for a mix of relaxation and site seeing.

I would like to fit in Taj Mahal, but it may be tough and don't want to go through the Delhi hassle. There are organized day trips from Mumbai to the Taj Mahal but cost $400 pp, a little steep.

Any suggestions/advice for my itinerary?

I'd stay in Kerala. I don't think a quick trip to Chennai in mid-Summer will show the city at its best.

Swaminarayan Akshardham in Delhi is so good place. I have heard from one of my friends. You should include in your first Indian Trip.

I would suggest Chennai as there are many beautiful places which you should definitely visit while you are in India. There are lot to explore like beaches, theatre, holy shrines, museums, shopping centers, historical monuments and much more.

There is just so much to so see in Mumbai itself. I visited India last year for work & was staying in Mumbai. I extended my trip to explore the city & it was simply amazing!
