Document requirements for PSK
 

Hi,

I have PSK appointment for GEP next week. The PSK website only asks for passport and photocopies of relevant pages. I am also planning to carry my old passport which has US visa, Aadhar card and PAN card, with copies. What has been the experience of the group regarding documents? Anything missing? My current address and passport address are the same. I am a resident Indian, and hold a B1/B2 visa.

Hi all - I had been following updates on this thread for a while now, and wanted to post an update that might help provide some clarity on the timeline. In my case, I applied for Global Entry October 2018.

• For context, I've been living in the US since 2008, so the last "record" of my stay in India would have been my high school.
• December 2018, I had to go to India to switch visas, and I scheduled my PSK appointment (in Chennai) for the day after that. For the PSK appointment, I took my passport and all old passports (the one saving grace was that the address I currently use in India, i.e. my parents' home address, was the same as the one in my passport) - so no further "documents" were required.
• They initiated the police clearance certificate (PCC) and we got a call pretty much the same evening saying that someone from the local police station would come to my house to do an address verification. The constable came the next morning, and asked for one additional proof of identification - thankfully, I had my Aadhaar card, and that would suffice. I signed a copy of that for verification, and off he went.
• The PSK website got updated to read that background verification had been initiated.
• I submitted a "grievance" ticket in March, and got a response within two days that said my application was "pending with MHA and MOF"
• Yesterday, I got an email from GEP saying that I should consider enrolling through an on-arrival process and they'd added new airports - I'd never gotten these emails before, so out of hope I checked the GOES website and found that my application had been conditionally approved on May 23. Scheduled the first available interview in my area, and hope to have Global Entry, and more importantly, TSA Pre, shortly. No updates to PSK website still.

So, overall, if you count the date from which the PSK process started, my application took 5.5 months to complete processing. Though this is, by no means, short, I'm just glad that the process is complete. So, two big lessons I'd say are:

1. It really doesn't matter if you live in India or abroad; you need to have proof of address and will likely need to plan to be in India for at least a week after the appointment to make sure that you can be "present" for police verification. If the address on your passport is not the current address, be prepared to show proof of address with some other government-issued ID (Aadhaar, PAN card, etc.)
2. The process seems to generally take around 5-6 months if all goes well; the grievance ticket system seems to work sporadically, and the responses are helpful to a certain degree to know if PCC has passed and if the file has gone to the ministry. After that, they just ask you to call to check.
3. Stay patient and it will happen!

Way back in 2013 when India and US first started talks on India joining Global Entry, the joint statement said India would build its own reciprocal trusted traveler program. Anyone have any idea about the status of that project?

I applied online for my wife in July 2017 as well. We are in India now and when my wife took an appointment and went to passport office in India they told her that they cannot find anything with the ID reference we used in the application. I think there was some change in ID sometime after July 2017. Are we supposed to use the ID that we see on the CBP site as memberid for background check application in India?

Stupid question. I could not find an answer in the 38 pages of this thread or on the internet.

If you are a U.S. Citizen with GES, do you get accelerated clearance through India Immigration upon arrival in, let's say, Mumbai?

Nope, India got access to GE even though they don't have anything similar in India itself. Not even plans for it :D!

Actually they do have plans for it.... Really long term plans for it, it seems. As the original 2013 joint statement that first said India and the US would work towards allowing Indian citizens access to Global Entry, said the benefit would eventually be reciprocal as the US helped India develop its own trusted traveler program. All the agreements the US has with other countries has similar language, which is why US Global Entry members can apply for membership in the trusted traveler programs of South Korea, Germany, Netherlands, et al, and program members who are citizens of those countries can apply for Global Entry.

Does anyone have experience with H1B renewal and Global Entry. I had a new I-797 in September and entered US on old visa(expiring december 2019) and new I-797. I chose to skip GE and see an officer. I asked to be refered to GE enrollment center and after lot of confusion, they updated by GE with new I-797 details

Now I am in India and got a neww visa stamp. Wondering if I should use GE on arrrival or once again see an officer and ask them to update my GE with new visa

I believe you will have to visit an enrollment center (or try the enrollment on arrival method) to update your visa details on your global entry profile. If you look at your GE account online, it lists the visa details under Membership Information. The GE website also says that you are supposed to visit an enrollment center if your visa or underlying petition changes.

Quick update - I landed last night and used the GE kiosk as there was a 1 hour+ wait otherwise. The kiosk didn't ask for any scan. It took my pic and found my details and the dates were correct as per my latest petition. Once I was out, I then stopped by the GE enrollment desk to update my visa for future just to be safe as there was no wait there.

Yup - had read about it before. I was surprised it worked even when I had not updated my visa with GE (the old stamp was cancelled).
