Haven't read the whole thread, so apologies if something's repeated.
If restaurants in 5 star hotels is what you're looking for, try these.
Golden Dragon at Taj Coromandel. Great Chinese food. Not authentic Chinese, but some version of it which is what you'll find in most places in India.
Pan Asian at ITC
Kefi at Taj Club House. Really good Mediterranean choice.
Flying Elephant at Park Hyatt
I've seen you've already been to Peshawari.
Other than these, try Amethyst on Whites Road. Lovely relaxing atmosphere, good food too.
Also, I would recommend Benjarong for Thai food.
