At BOM on the international part of airport there are tons of Duty-Free shops. You can't miss them. I killed a few hours in the Lufthansa lounge and there were DF shops there.

as far as the printout is concerned, it clearly states that when you are buying your ticket....you have to have your printout available at every indian airport....can't enter without that....
Keyser,
I wouldnt argue against your knowledge and experience, but "mumbai is infamous for this" sounds bit unrealistic.

Never had or even heard of anyone I know had any such issue in all these decades in mumbai. (had one close to this, on ride from JFK many years ago). I always thought that mumbai was the safest city in India (it is other cities you might have to be careful)

But world is changing...

i'm come across this many many times in mumbai....my clients travel to mumbai frequently & a number of them have reported similar issues....i've not come across it myself anywhere else....

i wouldn't call mumbai the safest city in india but it is generally safe....issues like these are bound to happen in big tourist cities where a few bad apples make everyone else look bad....
