i just fininshed 2 legs in Konnect MAA-DEL-MAA as these were the times I wanted to fly. I don't know, I think I am leaving Jet. Full planes, tight seats, 90 bucks for a brownie and a soda, sandwiches with the same properties as a sponge, no lounge, shoddy service, flight delays (not just Jet but the general unpleasantness is exacerbated) and even with OLCI done and confirmed, they gave my exit seat away to someone...probably a friend or crew member...when I tried to check in my bag.

It is an LCC...I think I need to focus on Paramount or something....just lousy flight times.

I'm hoping for Paramount to start ex-BOM also! ^

Jet is shooting itself in the foot, no doubt about it!

I would *definitely* complain about the exit seat being given away! :td: :td:

I still rather optimistically believe the J seats will return once the economy recovers in a year or two.

"Premium travel is very much in our DNA!"

Yes I would like that but I honestly believe Indian consumers (like the rest of the world) are very price sensitive and will vote with flying the cheapest. Many flyers, even frequent, do not care who they fly with, just go cheap. Russell Peters is the authority on this. :D

I concur - unfortunately this is the case here.

Inside info: 9W is finding it extremely beneficial to operate Konnect flights, and doesn't look like giving these up any time soon. Financially, breakeven is quicker (as expected) on Konnects than on full-service routes (domestic only - internationally, seems like every flight is at break even or profitable). So premium might be in the DNA, but I think it's going to stay there for a very long time ;-)

I was under the impression that Jet Konnect was the old Sahara/Jet Lite. why do they need two LCCs?

Sahara (s2) became jetlite. Jet Konnect is all economy configured mainline Jet Airways planes, with food for purchase.

Is there any benefit to having two LCCs?

I supposed it all comes down to which business model works. As I have alluded to earlier, Indian end-users, in almost all consumer sectors, are very price sensitive. There really isn't a market to support premium service airlines as there is in the west.

The premiums here are becoming LCCs (as we are painfully aware almost everytime we get into a plane) as that is what works at the end of the day.

Unfortunately, as airlines are all in poor financial health, one has to wonder if the LCC model will become a permanent model...maybe some upstart in the future will again launch premium services.

Jet Airways U-turn

Well some good news from the Jet Airways camp.

It seems that they have done a U turn and will allow Jet Plats and Golds to use the lounges on the Domestic circuit for a certain period:

http://www.jetairways.com/EN/IN/Spec...spx?tcid=9wfan

They have marketed it as a special offer up to 31st July 2010 but I reckon its a trial to test the waters to see if those who switched to Kingclub return.

At least some respite from the eradication of FF privileges on 9W.

Ha, ha!

I guess those of you who have to fly the 2 "ugly sisters" of Jet mainline can now have some solace of sorts - in the lounge and get some eats before "fasting" on board S2 or Jet Konnect! :p

Edited to Add
: They are pretty insane to make it a "celebration" of the first year of Konnect, by providing lounge access!

What an oxymoron, eh??
