In July of 2009 I booked a London-Calcutta ticket, to return around the end of April 2010 – I paid Ł538, including a free, one-time no penalty rebooking. They said I would have to pay the difference in fare, and when I asked if fares increased much, they said no. I was led to believe these were differences in inflation – changes due to the price of petrol changing.
However, now I have my travel dates they are telling me I must pay an ADDITIONAL Ł360. That is a difference of 67%!!! For an economy seat, no difference in class.
I have been robbed. I am a victim of “bait-and-switch.”
There are seats on the plane. I have already paid for a return flight, and they refuse to change the dates of tickets without an invented “rate change.” This is double-speak for “we have already sold you a return ticket, but when you want to use it, we will steal your money, with no justification.”
They have the gall to tell me they have kindly allowed me to change with no penalty. They sell you a spoon of honey while stealing your whole wallet.

DO NOT TRUST KINGFISHER!!!!!

welcome to the airline industry!!!! You took the risk and had to change, it's like going to tesco and moaning that they said they would still have chicken for sale and you can see it on the shelf, but you bought tesco value and what is left is finest free range corn fed happy chicken.

It's still chicken, it's still on the shelf but it's not the cheap one because it all sold out. You don't know when it all sold out, it could be a few days ago it could be 10 seconds ago. The reality is, if you still want the chicken you have to pay for the chicken they have.

Same with airfares, they are sold in fare codes (usually letters) and as soon as one fare code has sold out they start selling the next one.

The kingfisher agent is probably fully correct that the fares don't normally go up, but how is anyone going to definitively know who is going to book a ticket and when?!?!

So no, they aren't untrustworthy - you just didn't take into account all of the possibilities. If you wanted a fully flexible ticket, you should have bought one in the first place. If you could change el-cheapo tickets, why would they bother to sell fully flexible at a large premium? Still the same class of travel and same seat.

Essentially your argument against Kingfisher is utter rubbish!

This very "loooser" has made it a point to join as many forums as he/she can in order to tarnish Kingfisher Brand.

Here is the link to his previous attempt to do the obvious in another well known travel forum: http://bit.ly/9zJZzV

I had a great riot of laughter when I read it the first time and it followed again on FT..!
