Indigo refund failed transaction

Hello, i had a cancelled and fully refundable flight with Indigo ( involuntary cancellation).. I have their email where they say the refund is 100% in 5-7 working days. But 2 weeks have passed and no money in my account.
When i contacted them, first they told me to wait more. Then one agent told me that they tried to tranafer the money back but " the transfer failed due to the original payment being older than 6 months".
Have you heard about such an issue with 6 months? My bank hasn't!
Also, here comes the more annoying part: they said they only can refund me through " NEFT", only to an indian bank account in my name. Being from Europe, obviously i don't have and can't have an indian account.
More, even if i would try to open the link they gave me to claim the refund again , it proves impossible because i don't receive a text message with the required OTP
What's to be done? I have already initiated a chargeback procedure, but it can take a lot of time .
Is this airline so bad intentioned in general?

I've never had a problem with refunds from Indigo in the past. They have sometimes taken over 2 weeks but have always gone back to the original mode of payment which has been an Indian based credit card.

I don't think I have ever asked for a refund for a ticket that was booked 6 months in advance so have no clue about this 6 month issue.

Unfortunately you have no other option but to keep following up. Ask for a supervisor & insist on the refund being issued to the card used to make the original payment.

Chargeback is the absolute right thing to do. Hope the payment processor harasses 6E a lot for you.

I don't know if it is bad intentions or simiply bad processes and poor systems. All Indian carriers have issues accepting/refunding foreign payments due to past fraud and absurd solutions to tackle that problem plus there are other central bank guidelines.

It's a small miracle you could book with a foreign card. Most foreigners have issues with that even if they are lucky enough to be ticketed. What type of card did you use?
