New Air India amenity kits starting S23
Now new TUMI amenity kits for PE, J & F... colour me impressed!!!

I would have liked them to keep the contents Indian though... I'm sure they could find plenty of Indian designers to do this.

Seems like some TCS types should be happy with getting some Tumi swag from Tata's airline.

Curious if Tata employees will have to fly AI/UK like the babus had to fly AI
The AI kits with the khadi products were unique though... the PJs with the Maharaja were decent too.

I think the issue with the Khadi products were they looked a bit cheap and had inconsistent quality. I think giving india made socks or Ayurvedic toothpaste would be a fine compromise. But AI needs things like TUMI - it has to change its image

Not really. Most airlines focus on local "high end" brands... and in a vast majority of cases I'm sure travelers are as ignorant as I am about that brand. Plus there are plenty of slightly recognizable Indian brands internationally and focus on high quality local products like ayurvedic, sandal wood, cotton, khadi etc. would have been far better and more unique brand statement for AI.

I know it is sacrilege on FT, but amenity kits are boring. Nothing they give you is particularly useful, it is just the rush of getting 'free' stuff in exchange for thousands of dollars. I want a good flat seat with a door; good food served on my schedule, not theirs, just as QR and EY do it; and on-time flights. These are difficult, amenity kits are easy.

It’s probably a good thing that the Tumi pajamas aren’t Tumi lungis.
I am not familiar with the logistics of “using the facilities” with a lungi. But given what I’ve seen of “Turkish commodes” and other toilets in India, it must be an art and science to avoid risking the bottom of them getting soiled while using the facilities.
