They also have CCU-LHR and MAA-LHR weekly flight, although both these flights may be temporary.

AI has increased HYD-LHR frequency to twice a week starting Sep 10th. And AI flies AMD-LHR twice weekly. This was a pre-covid flight.

Amritsar-Rome on Wednesdays (return on Fridays) is also a weird oddity.

Italy has the second largest number of Sikhs in Europe. In Europe, only the UK has a larger population of Sikhs. Add in other travel to and via Amritsar, and one day a week doesn’t seem so odd to try. Lots of Italian agro and extractive resource related businesses deal in the Punjab. And it’s sort of two ways.

The inbound crew gets to rest on Thursday to return on Friday so they dont need another crew on the return flight.

The crowd seems to be substantial considering they now operate charters from Italy to ATQ, which tested positive recently.

Festival-related charter flights to Amritsar? I thought the airport has had international charter flights from somewhere before for Parkash Utsav Dasveh Patshah.

Is it lack of aircraft and crew or insufficient yield ? Hard to believe that they cannot sustain flights LHR to BLR and MAA. CCU flight was operational for a brief period during the peak pandemic period.

After what companies saw was manageable during the pandemic, Europe to BLR business demand should be weaker than it used to be.

With the absurd amount of time US B1s are taking now... I'm guessing US demand will also decrease significantly during holiday, school reopening etc. seasons....
