AI upgrade with miles
Hi,
I’m booked on LHR TO IXC with Air India
I’m bidding for the LHR-DEL sector and will upgrade with miles for DEL TO IXC.
My question is if I don’t get the bid from LHR TO DEL will my baggage still be through checked? Will I still get both boarding passes at LHR (Y and J one?). Take this route every year but never tried it with different cabins. TIA.

Different cabins has no bearings on your luggage being through checked or your BPs being issued.
It will happen in exactly the same way as before. Depending on your connections your immigration & customs might happen in DEL or IXC and if it happens in DEL you will have to recheck them in. But whatever that maybe your bags will be tagged to IXC and you’ll get your BPs together no problem.

1. It is always wise to get travel insurance.
2. Travel Insurance (in India at least) doesn’t cover airlines’ canceling their own flights - you should check if yours does
3, If you used a European credit card to buy your ticket you are usually automatically protected by the credit card
4. AI is owned by the Indian Govt. so it will never go out of business (there maybe ups & downs though)
