Not sure they actually put in a formal bid. They did due diligence - don't know what the outcome was.

that’s the only chance ai has....the government should beg tata to take ai off their hands & take whatever reasonable offer they get....

Any business person with half a brain will not touch airlines now, much less AI. The pandemic will result in a massive consolidation with flight crew and aircraft available at significant discounts. AI with its SOE staffing and wage structure together with a few highly leveraged aircraft is hardly an attractive enterprise to be had. Tata is doing fine with Air Asia and Vistara, I dont see them getting into the AI cess pool mess.

The Tata's have already invested (sunk) a lot of money into 2 airlines. One of them is going to go bust very soon. They would have to be smoking and drinking something very special to think at this time (or at any point of time) AI is something they must invest in.

oliver2002 Nov 27, 2020 12:16 am

Why on earth is Tata pursuing this...?

Even if the govt. is giving them a few large oil refineries it is a losing deal for the Tatas. Running a decent airline can bankrupt any wealthy company, AI could bankrupt Amazon and Apple together.

i agree completely....it will have to be something that is worth their while for tata to be interested....time will tell....

I'd love to have AI employees own AI. Then they would get a taste of their own medicine!!! :D
